SOUTH PERU HIGHLIGHTS 15 Days / 14 Nights

 

DAY 01   ARRIVAL TO THE CITY OF LIMA

You will be met by a transfer upon your arrival to the Lima airport, who will help you to the hotel and will assist you with your check-in.

 

DAY 02 LIMA – ICA SANDBOARDING – NAZCA

You’ll be taken to the bus station at the appropriate time, to board a bus to Ica, where we will visit the city´s highlights such as the traditional Bodegas or Vineyards, we will do a nice walking tour exploring with our guide the places where this delicious Peruvian drink is made. Then we drive to Huacachina Lagoon. This beautiful desert is composed of a variety of dunes. Here we make a tour along the dunes for a Sand Buggying and Sandboarding adventure. In the afternoon there will be a transfer to the city of Nazca.

 

DAY 03 FLIGHT OVER NAZCA LINES – BUS TO AREQUIPA

At the agreed-upon time, you’ll be taken to the local aerodrome to board our light aircraft and enjoy a flight over the majestic Nazca Lines, where they are a set of ancient geoglyphs - huge lines drawn in the surface of the desert near Nazca. They were created thousands of years ago by an ancient tribe for reasons that remain unclear even to this day.  After the flight, we’ll visit the Chauchillas Cemetery, which houses profaned fossilized remains, tombs, and offerings of the Nazca culture. Continuing on, we’ll be able to admire the impressive landscape of the Huarango forests at the foot of the sand dunes. The night will be spent on the bus from Nazca to Arequipa.

 

DAY 04 ENJOY THE DAY IN AREQUIPA

Upon your arrival to the bus Arequipa terminal, transfer to Hotel and enjoy the day in Arequipa (Free)

 

DAY 05 COLCA CANYON

We’ll travel to the town of Yura and Aguada Blanca y Pampa Cañahuas National Reserve, which borders snowy Chachani peak. The reserve is a natural habitat for the most beautiful and rare of the South American camelids, the vicuña. Then we´ll arrive to Chivay where we´ll have a lunch in a traditional restaurant, then we have 30 minutes free time in town after that we visit the Calera Hot Springs, swimming pools and spending the night in Chivay

 

DAY 06 CONDOR’S CROSS – PUNO

We’ll depart very early in the morning to the Cruz Del Condor with our transport; this will take us around 2 hours driving. Along the way we´ll stop for some  pictures of the small villages of the canyon, such as Coporaque, Ichupampa and Lari, finally we arrive to Cruz del Condor view point. From here we can appreciate the Colca canyon and the impressive condors fly, then You’ll have time in Chivay for lunch (not included) before we continue on the bus to Puno.

 

DAY 07 FLOATING ISLAND UROS - AMANTANI

On this tour to Uros, Taquile and Amantani islands, we´ll pick you up from the hotel at 07:30am to the port, where we take our comfortable motor boat,  it will take us to the Uros floating islands (30 min travel time), before reaching Amantani (approx. 2 ½ hours) by averaging mid-day, where families of Amantani will wait for us.

 

DAY 08 TAQUILE ISLAND – PUNO

Wake up early in the morning  after our breakfast, we descend to the port of Amantani (8 am) to take our boat towards to Taquile island , have time for lunch in this island and then return to the Port to back to Puno by 04:00 pm.

 

DAY 09 DEPARTURE TO CUSCO – SOUTH VALLEY

At 07:00am we’ll head to the station to begin our special bus journey to the Imperial City of Cusco. Along the way we’ll enjoy marvelous landscapes and guided visits. We’ll stop at La Raya, where we will have excellent views for photographs. We’ll visit the ruins of Raqchi, known as the Temple of Lord Wiracocha, and the town of Andahuaylillas, where we’ll visit the town’s precious XVII century church,. We’ll have lunch en route, and will arrive in Cusco in the afternoon.

 

DAY 10 FREE MORNING AND CITY TOUR CUSCO

At 13:20pm, we’ll begin our exploration of the former Imperial City of the Incas, a colonial city constructed upon the bases of Inca palaces and other structures. We’ll begin with a visit to Cathedral and Qoricancha, the Temple of the Sun, which was the Incas’ preeminent deity. After learning about its significance as Cusco’s religious center during the days of the empire. From the Plaza we will head towards the colossal stone fortress of Sacsayhuamán, whose strategic location overlooking the city offers unequaled views. We’ll continue along the city outskirts to visit the Qenqo, Tambomachay, and Puca Pucará archeological sites before back to Cusco.

 

DAY 11 INCA TRAIL

At 06:00am and we’ll head by tourist-class bus to Km.82, the point at which the trail begins. The first day’s trek will last 5 to 6 hours, during which we’ll visit the Llactapata archeological group and admire its panoramic view. Throughout the day’s trek, we’ll be able to appreciate the region’s diverse flora and fauna. Lunch will be on the trail, while dinner will be at our first camp, at Wayllabamba, where we will spend the night.

 

DAY 12 INCA TRAIL - PACAYMAYO

After a very early breakfast, we’ll begin our trek toward the steep Lullucha valley where we will observe the beautiful and amazing landscape, arriving at the first pass and our trek’s high point, Warmiwañusca (4050 meters above sea level). From this point, whose name in Quechua means Dead Woman’s Pass, we’ll have spectacular views of the high Andes before beginning the descent into Pacaymayo Valley (3600 meters above sea level). The descent is a 6 to 7 hour trek during which we’ll experience the depth and warmth of the valley. Our cooks will surprise us with a delicious lunch on the trail while we rest. Dinner will be at our camp for the night, at Pacaymayo.

 

DAY 13 INCA TRAIL – WIÑAYHUAYNA

We’ll begin the day’s hike after breakfast. On this day we’ll be able to observe a variety of wild orchids, bromeliads, mosses and ferns. We’ll make stops at the small archeological sites of Runcurakay, Sayacmarca, Conchamarca, Puyupatamarca, and Wiñayhuayna, which are examples of original Inca architecture. The total hiking time will be approximately 6 to 7 hours, with lunch en route amidst a panoramic view of the region’s snow-capped peaks. Upon our arrival at Wiñayhuayna we’ll enjoy a delicious dinner and set up camp for the night.

 

DAY 14 INCA TRAIL – MACHU PICCHU

On this day, we’ll visit one of the world’s most evocative sites: Machu Picchu Archeological Complex. After a very early breakfast, we’ll tackle the final segment of our trek. Our journey will take us through a lush and humid cloud forest filled with ferns and plants. After two hours, we’ll arrive at the Intipunku Sun Gate and Machu Picchu in all its dawn splendor will come into view. Descending into the archeological complex, we’ll begin an unforgettable 2-hour guided visit during which our professional guide will recount history enveloping this mysterious and enchanting site. After the guided visit, you’ll have free time to explore independently or relax and soak up the site’s ambience. At the appropriate hour, we’ll descend by bus back or by walk to the town of Aguas Calientes, where you will have free time for lunch. In the evening you’ll catch the train to Ollantaytambo station where your transfer will be waiting to take you back to Cusco .

 

DAY 15 FLIGHT OUT TO LIMA

You’ll be picked up at your hotel at the appropriate hour and taken to the Cusco airport to board your flight to Lima. Upon your arrival, you board your outgoing international flight
